Sending your excess luggage by Air is quicker and can arrive at the destination that you would like to send to and can be waiting for you to pickup when you arrive once customs clearance has been done.
If you are taking your luggage through the terminal that is fine and you can do so as this is part of most bookings but if you are taking extra and it is overweight or oversized you will be required to pay the extra fees per kilo and oversized fees which will depend on each individual item you are sending.
At the terminal check in staff can also reject your extra luggage due to the weight that the aircraft might already be carrying and cannot take any extra except what is booked in for your allowance as per your ticket. You will be then directed to take your luggage to the INERNATIONAL /DOMESTIC FREIGHT terminal which is normally driving distance within the airport to check your freight/luggage in.
In this process you will have to fill out paper work and a declaration and pay the extra sending cost which you might not have at the time to send your freight/luggage which takes time and you could miss your flight if this is done at the last minute and still your freight/luggage might not be able to be sent on the same flight as you.
